Shalisa Oburn

Chemistry Postdoctoral Scholar

Pennsylvania State University

Dr. Shalisa Oburn joined the nanothread center at PSU in August 2019 as a recipient of the Eberly Postdoctoral Research Fellowship with Professor Elizabeth Elacqua. Prior to joining PSU, she obtained her B.S. in Biochemistry in 2013 from Missouri State University. After completing several graduate-level courses and perusing research during her final years as an undergraduate though an accelerated master’s program, Shalisa went on to complete her M.S. in Chemistry in 2014 from Missouri State University focused on halogen-bonding interactions in crystal engineering with Professor Eric Bosch. Shalisa then continued in organic chemistry to obtain her Ph. D. in 2019 from the University of Iowa studying supramolecular chemistry and solid-state organic chemistry with Professor Leonard R. MacGillivray. In the CNC, Dr. Oburn’s research is focused on fundamental studies applying concepts in supramolecular chemistry with studies aimed towards gaining insight into the formation and design new nanothreads with varying structure, bonding, and arrangements.
